MiniMines to Develop Rs. 350 Cr. Critical Minerals Complex
Karnataka-based MiniMines Cleantech Solutions recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Karnataka Government for a Rs. 350 crore Critical Minerals Complex in Bengaluru. MoU was signed between MiniMines and Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology
This new facility will refine 15,000 Metric Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) of essential minerals, which include Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt, Copper, Graphite, and rare earth elements. The company expects an annual throughput of 13,400 MTPA from this facility. This plant will recycle Lithium-ion batteries with company’s patented Hybrid-Hydrometallurgy (HHM) technology. Additionally, MiniMines is developing its HydroMag REE Loop process, which will help in recycling and recovering rare earth magnets.
MiniMines’s venture is expected to create a total of 1,500 jobs. An R&D and training centre will be a part of this planned complex. This centre will contribute towards training workforce, technology development and sharing, and circular mineral processing.
Mr. Anupam Kumar, Co-Founder and CEO, at MiniMines Cleantech Solutions, said, “Our focus is to recover value from waste streams and reduce the country’s dependence on imported raw materials.” MiniMines’ project targets to support various sectors, which include Electric Vehicles (EV), Renewable Energy (RE), aerospace, defence and electronics.
