Mahindra to Build its Largest Automobile Manufacturing Plant in Nagpur

Mahindra Group has announced the development of its largest integrated manufacturing plant for automobiles and tractors in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited shared this information in its press release dated 6th February 2026.
However, the company did not specify the investment for this project.
Mahindra’s Nagpur Plant to Be Developed in 1,500 Acres
Mahindra Group’s upcoming automobile manufacturing plant in Nagpur will be developed in an area of 1,500 acres in Vidarbha. The company stated that this plant will be complemented by a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. This supplier park will strengthen the manufacturing value chain by improving logistics efficiency and localisation.
Once operational, the plant will have an annual production capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors. This production capacity makes this upcoming plant ‘Mahindra’s largest integrated manufacturing footprint in the country’.
Commenting on this development, Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO, Auto and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “This facility represents a bold step forward in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey. Designed to support our next generation of vehicles and tractors, it brings together scale, flexibility, and advanced technology within one integrated footprint”.
Mahindra’s Nagpur Manufacturing Plant to Begin Operations in 2028
At the aforementioned plant, Mahindra Group will be responsible for manufacturing Internal Combustion Engine vehicles and Electric Vehicles (EVs). According to the company, this plant will cater to both domestic and global market demand.
This plant is expected to commence operations in 2028.
Sharing his views on the company’s contribution to the Make in India initiative with the development of this plant, Mr. Jejurikar said, “ It strengthens our ability to deliver world-class products while staying true to our commitment to ‘Make in India for the World.’ We are proud to deepen our partnership with the state of Maharashtra through this transformative investment”.
Mahindra Group Commits Rs. 15,000 Cr. Investment in Maharashtra
Apart from the development of the aforementioned plant, the company has committed an investment of Rs. 15,000 crore in Maharashtra over a period of 10 years. The upcoming plant in Nagpur will be part of this investment.
As part of the mega investment, the company will be acquiring land in the state to further strengthen its manufacturing footprint. Through this, Mahindra Group will expand its current product portfolio and engine manufacturing capacities.
