L&T Wins Order valued upto 5,000 Cr. for India’s Largest Pumped Storage Project
Larsen & Toubro Limited’s (L&T) Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business has recently won an order valued between Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 5,000 crore from Torrent Energy Storage Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (formerly known as Torrent PSH 3 Pvt. Ltd.).
This order is for the construction of India’s largest Pumped Storage Project (PSP), namely the 3000 MW Saidongar-1 Pumped Storage Project in Raigad, Maharashtra.
As part of the aforementioned project, L&T will design, engineer, and carry out all civil and hydro-mechanical works related to the Saidongar-1 PSP. The company will build 10 units of 300 MW each, cumulating to a total installed pumped storage capacity of 3000 MW.
Being the nation’s largest PSP, Saidongar-1 is expected to ensure grid stability and enhance grid reliability. Additionally, as the PSP will store surplus energy, it will help meet peak power demands and provide energy security in Maharashtra. Also, this hydropower project will support the nation’s goal for decarbonisation.
