KEI Showcases Model of its Greenfield Sanand Plant at ELECRAMA 2025

At ELECRAMA 2025, the flagship tradeshow of Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association(IEEMA), KEI Industries displayed the model of its upcoming greenfield plant in Sanand, Gujarat.

KEI Industries’ Largest Manufacturing Plant for Power Cables

KEI Industries’ representatives at the trade show told CableCommunity that this 78-acre manufacturing plant will be the company’s largest yet. KEI Industries manufacture Low Tension (LT), High Tension (HT) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) power cables once phase-1 of this plant goes live.

Construction of Phase-1 of KEI’s Sanand plant commenced in March 2024, and it is set to be commissioned during Q1 of FY-26.

A Total of Rs. 1,700-1,800 Cr. to be Invested at Sanand

As per the company’s Annual Report for FY-24, the company is investing a total of Rs. 1,700 crore to 1,800 crore [for both the phases] in developing this facility. During the company’s Q3 FY-25 earnings call, Mr. Anil Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of KEI Industries explained, “…company has planned a capex of around INR 800 crores to INR 1,000 crores [during FY-25] on greenfield expansion for LT, HT and EHV cables”. In FY-26, the KEI will be investing an additional INR 700 crore to complete the Sanand project.

During the call, KEI’s management had also mentioned on 28th November 2024, the company raised Rs. 2,000 crore via Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) mostly to fund its greenfield plant in Sanand. Out of the total, Rs. 1,450 crore has been earmarked for the Sanand plant, whereas the balance had been raised for corporate expenses and loan repayment.

KEI Industries’ Sanand Plant to Add Rs. 5,500 Crore in Cable Sales

The cables produced at KEI Industries’ Sanand plant are expected to add Rs. 5,500 crore in the company’s annual sales. Out of this, the company anticipates generating Rs. 1,200 crore to Rs. 1,300 crore from the sale of EHV cables, and Rs. 1,500 crore from HT cables. The remaining amount will be generated from the sale of LT cables produced at Sanand plant.

KEI Industries to Commission Second Phase of Sanand Plant by March 2026

Mr. Anil Gupta said that the second phase of the company’s plant in Sanand is expected to be commissioned by March 2026. In the second phase KEI Industries will begin manufacturing High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cables at Sanand.
