India’s Solar Power Generation Capacity Crosses 70,000 MW

India’s solar power generation capacity has surpassed the 70,000 MW mark as of August 2023. Out of this, Rajasthan has the highest installed solar generation capacity which is 17,839 MW. This information was given by Union Power Minister, Mr. R.K Singh while responding to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

Second to Rajasthan is Gujarat with an installed solar generation capacity of 10,133 MW. This is followed by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra with 9,050 MW, 6,892 MW, and 4,870 MW respectively. Other states such as Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have contributed rest of the capacity with Bihar being the lowest solar power capacity installer of 203 MW.
