Indian Govt. Sets 170 Million Tonne Coal Production Target for FY-25

Indian Government has established a coal production target of 170 million tonnes for FY-25, encompassing both captive and commercial coal blocks.

In FY-24, captive and commercial coal blocks collectively produced 147.12 million tonnes of coal, marking a 26% increase from the 116 million tonnes produced in FY-23. Among this output, power sector captive mines contributed approximately 121.3 million tonnes, non-power sector captive mines produced 8.4 million tonnes, and commercial mines generated 17.5 million tonnes of coal.

In a recent review meeting with representatives of 74 coal mines, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, M Nagaraju reviewed these coal production targets for FY25.
