Hindustan Zinc Launches ‘EcoZen’, Asia’s First Low-Carbon Zinc

Hindustan Zinc, the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, has introduced EcoZen, Asia’s first brand of Zinc having a low-carbon footprint.

EcoZen Zinc has a carbon footprint of less than one tonne of carbon equivalent per tonne of Zinc produced. It is manufactured using Renewable Energy (RE), resulting in a carbon footprint approximately 75% lower than the global average. Zinc is primarily used for galvanizing steel to protect it from corrosion.

During the product launch, Mr. Arun Misra, CEO, Hindustan Zinc Limited, said “Produced with a carbon footprint of less than one tonne of carbon equivalent, EcoZen represents one of the most sustainable low carbon zinc options on the market for its role in protecting infrastructure and in technologies for the low carbon transition”.
