HCC Wins Rs. 204 Cr. Order from Hindalco for Aluminium Smelter Expansion in Odisha
Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Limited has secured an order worth Rs. 204 crore from Hindalco Industries Limited for the Aditya Aluminium smelter expansion project in Odisha.
Scope of work under this order includes fabrication, supply, and erection of the pot shell* and associated superstructure for Hindalco’s Aditya Aluminium smelter expansion in Odisha. As per some media reports, HCC is expected to execute the aforementioned order in a period of 18 to 24 months.
Hindalco’s Aditya Aluminium project is located in Sambalpur, Odisha. The project also includes a 900 MW captive power plant and currently has an Aluminium production capacity of 3.80 lakh tonnes per year. Expansion of Hindalco’s Aditya Aluminium smelter targets to enhance the company’s Aluminium smelting capacity by 2,00,000 tonnes per annum. Currently, the company has a total Aluminium smelting capacity of 1.3 million tonnes every year.
*A pot shell is the main structural component of an electrolytic cell in an Aluminium smelter. It is the outer steel vessel in which smelting process is carried out.
