Havells Revises Alwar Plant Expansion with Additional Rs. 340 Cr. Investment

Havells India Ltd., a major Indian cables, wires and FMEG manufacturer, has revised its plans to expand production capacity at its Alwar plant, which is also India’s largest single-location cable manufacturing plant.
Total Investment at Alwar Plant to be Rs. 715 Crore
Havells has announced an investment of Rs. 340 crore to expand production at its Alwar plant via its stock filing dated 23rd May 2025. This sum is in addition to the already announced investment of Rs. 375 crore for the plant’s expansion in July 2024. Thus, Havells’ total expansion CapEx at Alwar will be Rs. 715 crore.
This entire investment at Alwar will be funded through Havells’ internal accruals.
Cable Production Capacity at Alwar to Reach 41.45 Lakh Km by September 2026
Havells India’s cable production capacity at its Alwar plant will reach 41.45 lakh Km post the aforementioned expansion. This additional capacity is expected to be operational by September 2026. However, Havells has not specified the category of cables which will be covered in this capacity expansion.
In July 2024, Havells had announced capacity expansion at its Alwar plant to 41.20 lakh Km of cables from 32.90 lakh Km of cables by March 2026. Therefore, as per Havells’ latest announcement, another 0.25 lakh Km of cable production capacity will be added at Alwar by September 2026.
Increased Cable Demand Rationale for Alwar Plant Expansion
As per Havells’ filing, “The additional capacity enhancement and capital expenditure is intended to meet the growing demand for Cables”. The company also mentioned that through this expansion, it seeks to increase operational efficiencies by leveraging process improvement and backward integration. However, it wasn’t made clear in Havells’ release how this capacity expansion would aid in backward integration.
Havells Plans Rs. 2,000 Cr. CapEx over Next 2 Years, Key Ongoing Expansions
During the company’s earnings call for its FY25 financials, Mr. Anil Rai Gupta, CMD of Havells India, said that the company estimates a total CapEx of about Rs. 2,000 crore over the next 2 years.
Some of the ongoing expansions by Havells apart from the capacity expansion Alwar: the Rs. 450 crore capacity expansion by September 2026 for ‘higher-sized’ cable production at its Tumakuru plant in Karnataka. Moreover, Havells will also develop a Rs. 800 crore facility in Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority’s (YEIDA) Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC). Phase-1 of this facility is expected to be operational in 2026. The company is also in the process of developing a Rs. 480 crore refrigerator plant in Giloth, Rajasthan which is expected to go live in Q2 of FY27.
