Havells Receives 50-Acre Land in YEIDA’s Electronics Manufacturing Cluster
Havells India Ltd., a major Indian cable & wire and FMEG manufacturer, has received Letter of Intent (LoI) for acquiring a 50-acre land parcel from Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). This land parcel is in the 200-acre Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC), Sector 10 of YEIDA.
Havells – ‘Anchor Investor’ for YEIDA’s Electronics Manufacturing Cluster
Earlier in August 2024, CableCommunity had reported that Havells will be the ‘anchor investor’ in the development of this 200-acre EMC. YEIDA’s EMC project received approval from Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on 25th April 2025.
Havells to Set-up Rs. 800 Cr. Electronics Manufacturing Facility
Havells will utilise the aforementioned land parcel to establish the first phase of an electronics manufacturing facility with an investment of about Rs. 800 crore. This new facility (phase-1) is expected to start production by 2026, and is anticipated to create about 1,000 jobs.
Details about the subsequent phases of Havells’ planned electronics manufacturing facility have not been shared.
Consumer Goods, Computer Hardware, Industrial & Medical Electronics to be Manufactured
At its upcoming manufacturing unit, Havells will engage in the production of consumer goods, kitchen appliances, computer hardware, and electronic components which find applications in industries such as automation and medicine. Apart from this, Havells will manufacture telecom products at its plant in the YEIDA ECM.
Havells to form JV with 5 Other Companies to Establish EMC
Being the anchor investor, Havells will set up a joint venture (JV) with five other companies, which will develop YEIDA’s EMC. This EMC is being developed under Modified Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (2.0) scheme, which was notified in April 2020.
YEIDA’s CEO, Mr. Arun Vir Singh explained, “Havells will be anchor [investor], the main manufacturing unit, and it will have a task to form a special purpose vehicle with at least another five companies to whom the remaining 150 acres of land will be allocated”.
