Havells Plans to add 2,000 Retailers to Network in UP
One of India’s Fast Moving Electrical Goods (FMEG) majors, Havells India Ltd. has planned to expand its network and service presence in rural India, including the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
UP is one of the top markets for the company and had contributed Rs 1,150 Cr. to Havells’ turnover during 2018-19. The total turnover of the company had been 10,057.62 Cr. for 2018-19.
Havells’ Retail Push
On 11th June 2019, at the launch of a new range of water purifiers in Lucknow, Shashank Shrivastav, Vice-President of Havells India mentioned that their plan is to add nearly 2,000 new retailers in the existing network of 15,000 retail points in UP. Along with retailers, the company is planning to add more than 20 Havells gallery / brand stores which at present are over 500, besides 50 plus shop-in-shop formats across the state. He also said “Besides, more than 150 dealers and distributors would be added to our network of about 1,100 in UP during the current financial year.”
The idea behind increasing the network is to cater to towns with a population of less than 30,000 and to penetrate deeper in the rural system.
Plans Ahead
Havells plans to invest Rs. 500 Cr. in a greenfield air conditioner manufacturing plant in Rajasthan. The company has has proposed to develop another greenfield plant in Assam for manufacturing of Wires.
