Foundation Laid for NHPC-UPNEDA JV’s 1,200 MW Solar Park

NHPC stated in its stock filing dated 5th March 2024 that the Indian Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for a 1,200 MW solar park in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh. This park will be developed by Bundelkhand Saur Urja Ltd. (BSUL), a Joint Venture (JV) of NHPC and Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). This project will come up with an investment of about Rs. 796.96 crore.

BSUL’s solar park will comprise 12 individual 100 MW power projects and it is expected to generate approximately 2,400 Million Units (MUs) of power annually. This solar park is expected to be constructed within 24 months from the date of investment approval.

Furthermore, it is estimated that construction phase of this project will create around 7,000 employment opportunities, with an additional 700 job opportunities during the Operation & Maintenance phase.
