Fort Gloster Resumes Cable Manufacturing After 20 Years

Fort Gloster Industries Ltd. resumed operations in 2023 after 20 years of inactivity. As per a LinkedIn post, the company despatched its first consignment of cables in June 2023. Fort Gloster shut down its operations in 2003 after being admitted to Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR).

The company was acquired by Gloster Limited in 2020 through Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP). Subsequently, in 2021-22, Fort Gloster revamped and overhauled its cable manufacturing facility in Bauria, Howrah with new equipment and machinery. The company manufactures low-voltage cables, medium and high-voltage cables, building wires, and control and instrumentation cables.

Fort Gloster Jute Manufacturing Company Ltd., which was established in 1890, manufactured Jute products until a cable division of the company was established in 1958. This division produced electric wires and cables.
