DMRC Begins Construction Works on Golden Line’s Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block Corridor
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) has commenced construction work on the Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block corridor of the Golden Line under Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 expansion.
The Golden Line consists of two sections, Line 10 and Line 11. Line 10 spans 23.62 Km, connecting Aerocity to Tughlakabad through 15 stations. Line 11 will run for 8.385 Km from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, significantly enhancing metro connectivity in South Delhi.
The Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block section (Line 11) will feature eight elevated stations: Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar, and Saket G Block. The corridor will offer direct interchange with the Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi, and with the Violet and Pink Lines at Lajpat Nagar.
Notably, this corridor will be India’s first metro route to operate three-coach trains. Designed for short-distance urban travel, each coach will have a capacity of approximately 300 passengers, allowing the line to carry nearly 900 commuters per trip.
