Delay in KEI’s Sanand Plant Commissioning

KEI Industries Limited, an Indian manufacturer of cables and wires, is in the process of setting up its largest manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat, phase-1 of which is expected to be commissioned in November 2025. However the commissioning of this plant has been delayed beyond the previously specified timeline.

In March 2025, during ELECRAMA, KEI showcased the model of its upcoming greenfield plant in Sanand. The company representatives at the trade show informed CableCommunity that phase-1 of this 78-acre facility would be commissioned during Q1 of FY26.

Subsequently, in July 2025, the commissioning timeline for Phase 1 was extended from Q1 FY26 to September 2025. Now, during the company’s earnings call for Q2 FY26 financials, Mr. Anil Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of KEI Industries, said that the first phase of the plant is likely to be commissioned by November 2025. This marks a continued delay in the plant’s commissioning schedule.

KEI Industries’ upcoming Sanand manufacturing facility will produce Low Tension (LT) and High Tension (HT) cables once phase-1 is commissioned, and Extra High Voltage (EHV) power cables once phase-2 of the plant is commissioned. Once the entire plant is functional, KEI expects to add about Rs. 6,000 crore to the company’s topline from cable sales.
