BHEL Receives EPC Order for NTPC’s Talcher Thermal Power Expansion

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has received an EPC order for setting up two thermal power generation units of 660 MW each, as a part of NTPC’s Talcher Thermal Power Plant’s Expansion Stage III. This information was given by BHEL in a stock filing dated 27th September 2022.

On 26th August 2022, NTPC’s board had approved an updated amount of Rs. 11,843.75 crore for the Stage III expansion of the Talcher Thermal Power Plant in Odisha. The earlier approved amount was Rs. 7,698 Cr.

Currently, NTPC’s Talcher Thermal Power Plant has an installed capacity of 460 MW, which is the form of 4 units of 60 MW each, and 2 units of 110 MW each. This plant earlier belonged to Orissa State Electricity Board (OSEB) and was acquired by NTPC in 1995.
