Bansal Wire Industries Launches IHT Wire for Automotive Industry
Bansal Wire Industries Ltd., a major Indian manufacturer of Stainless Steel wire, has launched its new product, Induction Hardened and Tempered (IHT) Wire for the automotive industry. Currently, the company’s IHT production capacity is of 9,000 tonne per annum. These wires will be manufactured for the Indian market.
IHT wires are special high-strength Steel wires which are used for making automotive components such as springs and suspensions. During the company’s Q1 FY26 earnings call, Mr. Pranav Bansal, MD & CEO of Bansal Wire Industries had said that this move is expected to cater to the growing demand of IHT from the 2-wheeler segment, including 2-wheeler Electric Vehicles. During the same call, Mr. Bansal had shared that India’s IHT annual demand is around 15,000 tonne to 20,000 tonne. He had gone to add that Tata was the sole producer of IHT wire at the time, and that a large chunk of India’s IHT wire demand is fulfilled by imports.
Bansal Wire Industries’ IHT wire has been launched under the company’s specialty wire division. The company sees India’s annual demand for specialty wires as 4.5 lakh to 5 lakh tonne, and therefore Bansal Wire Industries has been focusing on this front. This includes the company’s plan to launch products such as Steel cord, bead wire, hose wire.
