Bansal Wire Inaugurates India’s Largest SS Wire Plant at Dadri

Bansal Wire Industries Ltd., a major Indian manufacturer of Stainless Steel (SS) wires and Galvanised Iron (GI) wires, has inaugurated its Dadri SS wire plant post expansion.
Now, Bansal Wire Industries’ Dadri plant boasts SS wire production capacity of 3.6 lakh Metric Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) from the earlier 2.2 lakh MTPA, which makes it India’s largest single-location SS wire manufacturing facility. The company has invested about Rs. 550 crore for this expansion.
“Aspiration to Lead with Technology, Sustainability, and Precision Engineering” – Bansal Wire Ind. MD
Speaking about the new additions at the company’s Dadri plant, Mr. Pranav Bansal, CEO and MD of Bansal Wire Industries, said that the plant “…not only strengthens our production capabilities but also reflects our aspiration to lead with technology, sustainability, and precision engineering in the wire manufacturing industry”.
R&D Centre Soon-to-be Launched for Advanced Manufacturing
Bansal Wire Industries’ Dadri plant will soon have an in-house Research and Development (R&D) centre to enable production of high-performance products. This will involve manufacturing techniques such as induction & oil tempering. This R&D centre will also aid in production of specialty wires such as Low Relaxation Prestressed Concrete (LRPC) wire, and Brass Coated Reinforced Wires. While LRPC wires are used to reinforce concrete, Brass Coated Reinforced wires are used to strengthen high-pressure rubber hoses.
Through this move, Bansal Wire Industries is targeting “…high-growth sectors such as automotive, agriculture, power & transmission, construction, and general engineering”, as per the company’s official release.
These products will be produced for Indian as well as overseas markets.
Further Expansion to 4.2 Lakh MTPA in H1 FY-26 at Dadri
Bansal Wire Industries has plans to scale up its Dadri plant further to a production capacity of 4.2 lakh MTPA during the first half (H1) of FY-26. During the company’s earnings call for Q3 of FY-25, Mr. Bansal had said, “We have already planned another phase of expansion in Dadri to take the capacity…to 4.2 lakh tonnes owing to the demand we are receiving from August [of 2024]”.
This expansion is estimated to cost Bansal Wire Industries about Rs. 70-80 crore in addition to the already invested Rs. 550 crore at Dadri as per the company’s MD. As for the projected revenue from Dadri plant post-expansion, Mr. Bansal had added during the call, “…against that 4,20,000 tonnes, we could be able to do a revenue of about ₹3,500 crores”.
Large Plants Advantageous in Terms of Operational Cost – Bansal Wire MD
Mr. Bansal had shared that one of the reasons for having a large-scale plant at Dadri is the advantages that larger SS wire manufacturing units offer in terms of operation costs. He added that in the company’s experience, the larger Dadri plant is more viable in terms of operational costs as compared to Bansal Wire Industries’ smaller plants. “From now on whatever investment we want to do, we do not want to scatter it into very different plants or areas”, he had said during the company’s Q3 FY-25 earnings call.
This argument gains importance as in long-term, Bansal Wire Industries targets having a production capacity of 6 lakh MTPA at Dadri. However, the timeline for this expansion has not been made public.
About Bansal Wire Industries: Bansal Wire Industries was incorporated in 1985, and as per the company is the largest producer of SS wire in India. The company holds about 20% of SS wire market share in the country. In FY-24, the company reported a revenue of Rs. 2,466.03 crore from its operations.
