Ammonia Gas Leakage at IFFCO Plant in UP leaves 2 Dead, 16 Injured
In a tragic incident at IFFCOs Phulpur Fertilizer Plant in Uttar Pradesh ammonia gas leaked from ruptured pipes carrying liquid ammonia. The incident took place at around 11 p.m. on 22nd December 2020. Two Manager level officials of the plant who tried to stop the leakage died due to exposure to toxic ammonia gas and 16 other plant workers had to be taken to hospital, and are now out of danger.
Emergency Response Team could stopped the leakage after severe efforts. Chief Minister of U.P. Yogi Aditya Nath has ordered a high-level probe to ascertain the cause of the accident.
