Alstom Wins Rs. 2,631.36 Cr. Coach Contract for Delhi Metro
Alstom Transport India secured a contract worth Rs. 2,631.36 crore from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for supplying 312 metro coaches for Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 on 27th October 2022.
This contract entails the supply of 90 coaches in the form of 15 six-coach trains for the Delhi Metro Pink Line’s extension connecting Mukundpur to Maujpur, and 144 coaches in the form of 24 six-coach trains for the Magenta Line extension running from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram. The remaining 78 coaches out of the total 312 coaches will be supplied in the form of 13 six-coach trains for Delhi Metro’s new Silver Line, connecting Aerocity to Tughlakabad.
Scope of work for Alstom in this contract covers design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning of these Standard Gauge coaches. Moreover, Alstom will provide comprehensive maintenance for the 78 metro coaches to be supplied for the new Silver Line for a period of 15 years.
This contract has a completion period of 4.5 years. DMRC had invited bids for procuring 288 metro coaches initially under this contract in June 2021, but the number of coaches to be procured was later increased to 312.
