Alstom Transport Secures Rs. 947 Crore Metro Rail Coach Order for Chennai Metro Phase 2
Alstom Transport India Ltd. has secured an order worth Rs. 946.92 crore to manufacture and supply 78 metro coaches for Chennai Metro’s 118.9 Km long Phase 2 project. Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) awarded Alston Transport India this contract on 26th July 2022.
Scope of work in this contract includes designing, manufacturing, supplying, testing and commissioning of standard gauge metro rolling stock (metro carriages) for Chennai Metro Phase – II / ARE03A Package. It also entails the training of associated personnel for this project.
This project has a deadline of 1,960 days or 5.37 years.
These carriages will service the route connecting Poonamallee Bypass to Light House via 28 stations, of which 18 will be elevated and 10 will be underground. The 78 carriages mentioned in the contract are for 26 three-car trains, and they will be maintained at the Poonamallee Depot in Chennai.
