Alstom Begins To Manufacture Trains for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Project
French multinational rolling stock manufacturer, Alstom has begun manufacturing regional commuter and transit trains for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut semi-high-speed rail corridor for RRTS Phase-1.
In May 2020, Alstom won a contract from NCRTC to design, build and deliver 210 regional commuter and transit train cars along with its comprehensive maintenance services for a period of 15 years.
As per the contract, Alstom will deliver 30 regional commuter train sets of 6 cars each and 10 intracity mass transit trainsets of 3 cars each. The trains are being manufactured at Alstom’s factory in Savli, Gujarat.
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut rapid rail corridor is targeted to be ready for services by 2025.
