Ajay Kumar Gupta Appointed Head of CRPO at BPCL
Mr. Ajay Kumar Gupta has been appointed as Head of Central Refineries Project Organization (CRPO) by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). CRPO is an organisation within BPCL focused on refinery-related operations.
Mr. Gupta holds B.E Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur. Following which he went on to earn a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai.
Mr. Gupta has over 33 years of professional experience, and began his career in 1992 as a Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) Maintenance Officer at BPCL’s Mumbai refinery. His managerial career began in 2001, when he was appointed as Deputy Manager (Projects) – Refinery Modernisation, and subsequently as Inspection Manager in 2006. Thereafter, he went on to be promoted to the post of Senior Project Manager in 2011, and then Chief Project Manager for developing an isomeration plant at BPCL’s Mumbai refinery to produce high-octane fuel. Following this, he was appointed as Deputy General Manager for BPCL’s major refinery projects in April 2017, and then General Manager (Projects – Biofuels) in 2020. Moreover, he was the Commercial Head for Bharat Oman Refineries Limited (BORL), a BPCL subsidiary, from January 2021 to July 2025. Mr. Ajay Kumar Gupta also served as Senior Vice-President of Bharat Petro Resources Ltd., another BPCL subsidiary, from April 2024 to July 2025.
Before assuming charge as BPCL’s Head of CRPO, Mr. Gupta was serving as the company’s Reliability Head.
