ABB Dispatches First Indian-Manufactured Wind Power Converter

ABB India Ltd. has recently dispatched its first Indian-manufactured wind power converter from the company’s Nelamangala facility in Bengaluru. As per the company, this delivery has been made to a wind turbine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

Manufacturing and dispatch of this wind power converter comes following ABB’s acquisition of Gamesa Electric’s power electronics business in December 2025. Notably, as a part of this acquisition, ABB integrated Gamesa Electronic’s wind conversion technologies, which proved essential in the dispatch of the said wind power converter.

On this recent achievement, Mr. Anoop Anand, President of the Motion High Power Division at ABB India Ltd., said, “By delivering advanced power conversion technologies that are locally manufactured in India and engineered for effective grid integration, we are strengthening the integration of wind power into the grid and supporting the scale-up of renewable energy worldwide.”

Currently, India is accelerating Renewable Energy (RE) growth with a target of reaching 500 GW by 2030, where wind energy plays a crucial part. In this context, ABB India’s recent success with the locally manufactured wind power converter and the company’s other RE portfolio will play an essential role in supporting the aforesaid 2030 vision.
