AAI Developing Airport in Arunachal with Rs. 645 Crore Investment

Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing a new airport at Hollongi, 15 Kms from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The airport is under construction and is planned to be inaugurated on 15th August, 2022. The Hollongi Airport is a greenfield project and is being developed with an estimated cost of Rs. 645 crore.

The developmental work includes construction of airport pavements, terminal Building, airside work and city side works, construction of Air Traffic Control tower cum technical block, medical centre, fire station and other ancillary works.

The terminal building of Hollongi airport will be equipped with a rainwater harvesting system. The building will have an area of approximately 4,100 sq. metres with eight check-in counters.

The Hollongi airport will have a 2,300-metre runway, which is designed for operations involving A-320 aircrafts. There is also a provision for further extension of 500 metres of the runway to accommodate operations involving A-321 aircrafts. The construction work of the airport terminal is 30% complete, while 80% of work on the aircraft operations area has been completed.
