POWERGRID Promotes Akhilesh Pathak as Director (Projects)

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID) has promoted Mr. Akhilesh Pathak to the position of Director (Projects) at the company.

Mr. Pathak joined POWERGRID in 1993 as an Executive Trainee and now has over 32 years of experience in the power sector. He has held several key positions at POWERGRID, including Head of company’s operations in the Southern Region – I (SR-I). The SR-I region covers development, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage transmission lines and substations across specific southern states, including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Karnataka. Mr. Pathak also served as Executive Director (Project Management) at the company.

One of his major contributions at the company includes leading Arun-3 SAPDC Transmission Project in Nepal, overcoming cross-border, regulatory, and geographical challenges. This project involved the laying of approx. 217-kilometer, 400 kV double-circuit power transmission line designed to evacuate power from the 900 MW Arun-3 Hydro Electric Project in Nepal to the Indian border.

Academically, Mr. Akhilesh holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Mangalore University (1991), Karnataka, and also completed the Harvard ManageMentor Program conducted by Harvard Business School.
