RRP Electronics Secures Land for Semiconductor Campus in Maharashtra

RRP Electronics Ltd. has been allotted 101 acres of plot in Khalapur Phase-3 and Expansion Industrial Area by the Government of Maharashtra. Following the allotment, RRP will move forward with developing a large-scale, integrated semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging campus in the state.
Rs. 36,000 Cr. Investment For Semicon Campus Development
Company’s development plan includes multiple Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) production lines and advanced Wafer-Level Packaging (WLP) facilities. This development will be done in phases. Furthermore, the company also included potential semiconductor fabrication units in its plan, subject to required approvals.
Total proposed expense for this campus is over Rs. 36,000 crore. This investment is divided into two phases. Phase 1 will have an outlay of Rs. 12,035 crore, and in Phase 2, the company will invest the remaining Rs. 24,000 crore.
RRP Aims to Create One-Stop Semiconductor Facility
Looking at RRP’s plan, this campus aims to achieve operational synergy and cost efficiency by consolidating packaging, advanced wafer-level packaging, and potential fabrication units in a single location. By doing this, the facility will achieve lean operations, reduce transport costs, eliminate the need for specialised transport packaging, and realise other efficiency benefits.
This campus will aid in growth of automotive electronics, industrial systems, telecom infrastructure and consumer applications segments.
RRP to Further Scale-Up India’s Semiconductor Mission
Emphasising the importance of recent land allocation, Mr. Rajendra Chodankar, Chairman of RRP Electronics, said, “The allocation of this ~101-acre land parcel at Khalapur is a foundational step in RRP Electronics’ journey to build a large-scale, integrated semiconductor manufacturing campus in Maharashtra”. This project is aligned with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat Vision as it will scale up the nation’s semiconductor push by localising semiconductor manufacturing.
As of now, RRP Electronics currently has an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. This 25,000 sq. ft. facility has been operational since its inauguration in September 2024.
