Details of Pune Metro Line 4 & 4A

The aforementioned Line 4 and Line 4A of Pune Metro phase 2 will together have 28 stations and span over 31.636 Km. This project will be jointly funded by central and state governments and external funding agencies.

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) will be the implementing agency for this project and will be responsible for executing civil, electrical, mechanical, and systems works. Currently, topographical surveys and detailed design consultancy are already in progress.

This project will be completed in a duration of five years.

Pune Metro Line 4 & 4A to Provide Multi-Modal Connectivity

Line 4 of the Pune Metro will run through Kharadi – Hadapsar – Swargate – Khadakwasla stations, and Line 4A will run through Nal Stop–Warje–Manik Baug stations in Pune. These lines are a core part of Pune’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) as they will connect with corridors at Metro Line 2 (Kharadi Bypass & Nal Stop), and Metro Line 1 (Swargate).

Lines 4 and Line 4A will provide vital connectivity and will connect diverse areas such as Kharadi IT Park, Hadapsar’s industrial hub, educational institutions, Warje’s residential clusters and also other residential clusters spread across East, South and West Pune. This project will also provide seamless multimodal connectivity with metro, rail and bus networks.

Line 4 and Line 4A will have an interchange at Hadaspur Railway Station and will also provide connectivity with yet-to-be commissioned corridors towards Loni Kalbhor and Saswad Road.

New Corridors of Pune Metro to Increase Ridership & Ease Traffic Congestion

As per a PIB release, projections show that Pune Metro’s cumulative daily ridership on Line 4 and Line 4A are expected to climb from 4.09 lakh in 2028 to nearly 7 lakh in 2038 and later rise from 9.63 lakh in 2048 to 11.7 lakh in 2058.

Pune major routes, such as Solapur Road, Magarpatta Road, Sinhagad Road, Karve Road, and the Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway, experience traffic congestion. Line 4 and Line 4A with its future addition, will pass through these routes and in turn, help in traffic decongestion. Additionally, these corridors will reduce hours of commuting time and give safe, reliable, and affordable alternative.
