Adani Energy to Commission Key Component of Mumbai HVDC Project by Early 2026
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) is scheduled to commission underground component of its High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) power transmission project in Mumbai by early 2026. This component involves 50 Km underground Extra High Voltage (EHV) cabling portion between Shirsad Transition station and Aarey EHV station.
The Mumbai HVDC project is being executed by Adani Electricity Mumbai Infra Ltd. (AEMIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd (AEML). The entire project is being developed with an estimated investment of Rs. 7,000 crore. It comprises an 80 Km HVDC transmission line which will connect 400 KV Kudus substation to 220 KV Aarey EHV substation. Out of the total length, approximately 50 Km will be underground cabling, while the remaining 30 Km will be overhead lines.
This major infrastructure project is aimed at transmitting 1,000 MW of electricity to cater to the rising power demand in Mumbai and its suburbs.
