HFCL Secures Rs. 358 Cr. of Optical Fibre Cable Export Orders in the US

HFCL Ltd., an Indian manufacturer of Optical Fibre Cables (OFCs) and defence equipment, notified the stock exchanges on 7th September 2025 that it has secured export orders in the US through its overseas subsidiary. These export orders are for exporting OFCs to the US, and they have been valued at a total of USD 40.65 million (about Rs. 358.38 crore).

The company has not disclosed the identity of its overseas customer for this order, but mentioned that OFCs of various specifications as per the customer’s requirements, will be supplied. These orders are expected to be fulfilled by HFCL by April 2026.

During Q1 of FY26, HFCL received Rs. 300 crore of export orders for OFCs. The company mentioned in Q1 FY26 earnings call that this export order intake is a sign of revival in global demand for OFCs. It must be noted that the company recently announced expansion of its Intermittent Bonded Ribbon (IBR) cable* manufacturing capacity by about 10 times its current capacity. Through this move, HFCL is specifically targeting markets in the US and Europe, where, as per HFCL, “…the company already has orders in hand of IBR cables from large hyperscalers”.

*IBR cables are a type of OFC, which feature better splicing and lighter weight than typical OFCs, making them ideal for deployment in hyper-scale data centres.
