SAIL Appoints Directors for Rourkela Steel Plant and Technical, Projects
Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has announced two appointments, as per the company’s separate stock filings dated 14th January 2025.
Mr. Manish Raj Gupta, with over 30 years of experience in the Steel industry, has taken charge as Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials) of Steel Authority of India Ltd. He completed graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal in 1991. Thereafter, he started working with SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee (Technical) at Durgapur Steel Plant, where he worked for 28 years. In 2019, Mr. Gupta started serving as Chief General Manager of SAIL’s Bokaro Steel plant. He later joined SAIL’s IISCO Steel plant as its Executive Director. Before assuming charge as Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials), Mr. Gupta was working as Executive Director In-charge (Operations) at SAIL’s corporate office in Delhi.
Mr. Alok Verma, a B.Tech graduate in Mechanical Engineering from BIT Sindri, has been appointed as Director-in-charge of SAIL’s Rourkela Steel plant. He started working with SAIL in 1991 as Management Trainee at the company’s Bokaro Steel plant. Mr. Verma worked at Bokaro Steel plant for over 32 years. Since 2023, Mr. Verma has been working at SAIL’s Rourkela Steel plant. He was appointed as Executive Director at the plant in 2023. Later in September 2024, Mr. Verma took additional responsibility as Executive Director (Works) at the plant. Before being appointed as SAIL’s Director-in-charge for Rourkela Steel plant, Mr. Verma was serving as the company’s Executive Director-in-charge (Works) at the plant.
