Sembcorp Wins its First Solar Energy Project with Battery Storage in India

Sembcorp Green Infra Private Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) for developing a solar project with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This information was shared by Sembcorp in its press release dated 18th December 2024.

This is Sembcorp’s first solar project coupled with Battery Energy Storage in India.

Scope of work in this project includes development of a 150 MW solar power project along with a Battery Energy Storage System of 300 MWh storage capacity. This project will be developed on Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis. Sembcorp Green Infra will be responsible for supplying the generated power to SECI for a period of 25 years.

This Project is expected to be commissioned within 24 months from the date of signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This project will be funded through a mixture of internal funds and debt.

Earlier in March 2024, Sembcorp Industries’ subsidiary, Green Infra Wind Energy Limited (GIWEL), had secured an LoA to build a 440-MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind–solar hybrid power project for SJVN Limited.
