Winners of SJVN’s 1.5 GWh BESS Auction Announced
Patel Infrastructure and Enerica Infra 3 (EnerGrid) have won Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam’s (SJVN) auction to set up a total of 375 MW/1,500 MWh of standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Uttar Pradesh.
Patel Infrastructure will develop 187.5 MW/750 MWh out of the total auctioned BESS capacity. The company will offer energy from its to-be developed BESS at a tariff of Rs. 3,59,000 per MW per month. Enerica Infrastructure has won the remaining 187.5 MW/750 MWh BESS capacity at the auction by quoting a tariff of Rs 3,59,999 per MW per month.
As per SJVN’s tender, the developers will be required to design, finance, engineer, and construct aforementioned BESS projects. The developers will also be responsible for the subsequent operation and maintenance (O&M) of these projects. Further, Patel Infra. and Enerica Infra 3 will be required to commission aforementioned BESS capacity within 18 months of signing the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with SJVN. The developers will be offered Viability gap funding (VGF) support of up to Rs 27 lakh per MWh or 30% of the project cost, whichever is lower.
SJVN had issued this tender in February 2025. As per Central Electricity Authority (CEA), 37 GWh of battery storage needs to be in place by 2027 considering India’s growing Renewable Energy installations.
