Vedanta Elevates Arun Misra from Executive Director to CEO
Vedanta Limited, an Indian multinational mining and metals company, has elevated Mr. Arun Misra from the position of Executive Director to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a period of one year. The company shared this news in its stock exchange filing dated 30th July 2026.
Mr. Misra graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, in 1988. He also earned a Diploma in Mining and Beneficiation from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, in 2002.
In the initial part of his career, Mr. Misra worked as the Maintenance Head (Electrical) at Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Coal Washery. During his nearly 31-year tenure with the company from 1988 to 2019, he held several leadership positions across different business functions. In his last role at Tata Steel, he served as Vice President (Raw Materials Division).
In 2019, Mr. Misra joined Hindustan Zinc Limited as Deputy CEO and was promoted to CEO and Whole-Time Director in August 2020.
Apart from his corporate leadership roles, Mr. Misra is the first Indian to serve as Chairperson of the International Zinc Association. He also serves as Vice President of the Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers (IIME) and is the Vice Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Rajasthan
