Toshiba T&D Systems to Invest Rs. 562 Cr. in Telangana

Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI), a 100% subsidiary of Japan’s Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation, will be investing about Rs. 562 crore (JPY 10 billion) in Telangana. This investment was announced in July 2024 by TTDI, and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the same was signed between TTDI and Telangana government in Tokyo on 18th April 2025.

TTDI’s investment will be directed at augmenting assembly and testing capacities for power as well as distribution transformers. The company targets to expand its transformer manufacturing capacity to 1.5 times of its FY-23 manufacturing capacity. Through this expansion, the company seeks to cater to domestic as well as global markets. “The investment will also establish a state-of-the-art facility to enhance vertical integration, reduce lead times, and improve quality, safety, and workplace efficiency”, stated TTDI’s release. This investment in Telangana is expected to create 250 direct jobs.

Commenting on this development, Mr. Hiroshi Furuta, CMD, TTDI, explained that the aforementioned investment will strongarm Toshiba’s manufacturing presence in India, and will also contribute to local development.
