Sterling & Wilson Wins 1,130 Cr. BoS Contract for 600 MW Solar Project in Gujarat

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd. (SWREL) has secured a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) for Balance of System (BoS)* works on a 600 MW solar project at Gujarat’s Khavda solar park. As per SWREL’s stock filing dated 11th August 2023, the company won this project through competitive bidding with a quoted bid of Rs. 1,130 crore.

*BoS entails the work of setting up a solar project except for the supply of modules.

Sterling & Wilson to Execute BoS Works on GIPCL’s Solar Project in Khavda

Sterling and Wilson will execute BoS works for GIPCL’s solar power project at Khavda in Kutch region of Gujarat. GIPCL will supply the PhotoVoltaic (PV) modules to Sterling and Wilson for this project.

Scope of Work in the Contract

Scope of work for Sterling and Wilson in this project comprises design, engineering, and construction of the solar power plant. Subsequently, the company will also be responsible for the installing, testing, and commissioning of the project.

Apart from this, SWREL will provide Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services for this project for a period of 3 years post-commissioning. This solar project is to be developed in two blocks, each with 300 MW capacity. Further, Sterling & Wilson will commission the project within 15 months from date of issuing the Letter of Intent (LoI).

Commenting on this development, Mr. Amit Jain, Global CEO, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group said, “We have started FY 2024 on a high note, with this prestigious order from GIPCL. With this, our total order booking in this fiscal jumps to over 1.6 GWp worth approximately INR 1,800 crore. The India solar EPC market has experienced significant growth”.

GIPCL floated a tender for this project on 23rd May 2023.

Sterling & Wilson to Develop 600 MW Solar Project in GIPCL’s 2,375 MW RE Park

This 600 MW solar power project will be a part of GIPCL’s 2,375 MW Renewable Energy (RE) capacity being developed at Khavda solar park.

GIPCL’s RE park is scheduled to be completed by July 2026.
