SpaceX Sets Up Subsidiary In India, Plans To Apply For License
Elon Musk-owned SpaceX has incorporated its wholly-owned subsidiary in India to start local broadband operations.
The company was incorporated as Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited on 1st November, 2021. SpaceX’s satellite broadband arm Starlink had earlier announced plans to start broadband services in India from December 2022.
Starlink Country Director, India, Mr. Sanjay Bhargava in a social media post said that incorporation of the new Indian subsidiary will help in applying for licenses, open bank accounts etc. Starlink is charging a deposit of US$ 99 or ₹ 7,350 per customer for its sattelite broadband connection and claims to deliver data speeds in the range of 50 to 150 Mega bit per second in beta stage. Starlink claims to have received over 5,000 pre-orders from India.
