SECI Floats Tender for Rs. 2,000 Cr RE Battery Storage Facility

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has floated a tender for a Standalone Renewable Energy (RE) Storage Facility near Fatehgarh-III Substation of the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) in Rajasthan to come up with an investment of Rs. 2,000 crore.

Facilities like this can be used by DISCOMS to store RE for later use during peak demand period.

This RE Power Bank will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis. The developer will be responsible for obtaining necessary permissions and connectivity, while the land will be provided by the Central Transmission Utility (CTU), Government of India, on a right-to-use basis.

This facility will have a capacity to supply 500 MW energy for two hours, or 1,000 MWh (Mega Watt Hour). Bidding entities for development of this project will be selected on the basis of Tariff Based Global Competitive Bidding. The developer will have to make the facility available for at least two cycles (charge/discharge) per day.
