ReNew’s Sumant Sinha Appointed Chair, CII Energy Transition & Hydrogen Council

Mr. Sumant Sinha, Chairman & CEO of ReNew, has been appointed as Chair of CII‘s Energy Transition & Hydrogen Council.

Renew’s Mr. Sinha completed B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi in 1987. Later in 1989, he completed MBA from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta. He also completed Master of International Affairs (MIA) program in International Finance from School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia in 1992.

Mr. Sinha began his career in 1989 as a Management Consultant at Tata Administrative Services and served this position for two years. In 1992, he joined Citicorp Securities as Vice President (Capital Markets), where he worked for five years. He then moved to ING Barings in 1997 as Managing Director (Capital Markets). From 2002 to 2007, Mr. Sinha served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Aditya Birla Group. He was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aditya Birla Retail Ltd. from February 2007 to July 2008. Following this he joined the Suzlon Group as Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he worked till May 2010. Since August 2010, he has been serving as the Chairman and CEO of ReNew. In 2022, he was also appointed President of The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).
