Polycab India wins Rs. 6,448 Cr. BharatNet Contract from BSNL

Polycab India Limited has won an order from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) for executing works on middle mile network of BharatNet phase-III project. The total value of this order has been pegged at Rs. 6,447.54 crore.
Earlier in March 2025, Polycab India had won a separate order worth Rs. 3,002.99 crore for executing works on middle mile network in BharatNet phase-III project in Bihar telecom circle.
Polycab to Execute Package 4 of BharatNet Phase 3 Project
Under the newly secured order, Polycab will execute works under package 4 of BharatNet Phase-III project. Scope of work in this package entails designing, supplying, constructing, installing and upgrading middle mile network*, in Karnataka, Goa and Puducherry telecom circles.
*Middle-mile network refers to the network that connects last mile or the local area network to rest of the internet infrastructure.
Middle Mile Network to be Developed in 3 Years, 10 Years of O&M Services
Polycab India will be responsible for constructing middle-mile network in the aforementioned telecom circles over a period of three years. Out of the total order value, Rs. 3,741.92 crore is the CapEx component, which will be used to establish the middle-mile network.
After laying the network, Polycab will provide Operation & Maintenance (O&M) services valued at a total of Rs. 2,245.15 crore over a period of 10 years (OpEx component). Out of this, O&M services worth a total of Rs. 1,029.03 crore will be provided in the first 5 years after laying the network, and services collectively worth Rs. 1,216.12 crore will be provided for the next 5 years.
In addition to the CapEx and OpEx components for the network to be laid, the company will also provide O&M services worth Rs. 460.47 crore for the existing BharatNet network.
BharatNet Phase-3: Expanding High-Speed Internet Access in Rural India
The third phase of the BharatNet project targets to expand India’s fibre broadband infrastructure, focusing on delivering high-speed internet to rural regions. Phase-3 will provide broadband connectivity to approximately 2.5 lakh previously unconnected Gram Panchayats (GPs), covering nearly 6.4 lakh villages. It will also upgrade connectivity in GPs that were linked during BharatNet Phase-1 and Phase-2.
