NHPC Floats Tender to Develop 1,200 MW Solar Projects in India

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has floated a tender for the development of 1,200 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar power projects in India. A ‘Greenshoe option’* for an additional 1,200 MW of solar projects has also been mentioned in the tender.

Successful bidders will be responsible for identifying the land for developing their solar power projects. NHPC’s tender specifies that the maximum capacity for which a bid can be placed can not exceed 600 MW without ‘Greenshoe option’, and 1200MW for a bidder who chooses to avail the ‘Greenshoe option’. A 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will be signed between NHPC and the selected power producers. NHPC will sell solar power procured from projects developed under this tender to ‘State Utilities/ Discoms/any other Beneficiaries’.

Last date to submit bids for this tender is 29th June 2024.

*Greenshoe option allows the developer to build additional power capacity, which supplies power at same tariff as the original bid.
