JSW Group to Invest Rs. 60,000 Cr. for Capacity Expansion in FY-26

JSW Group will be investing Rs. 60,000 crore for capacity expansion in FY26. The company will direct this investment towards its Electric Vehicle (EV), Steel and energy businesses.

JSW Group’s Subsidiary to Set up 636-Acre EV Plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar

JSW Greentech Limited, a subsidiary of the JSW Group, will set up an Electric Vehicle plant to manufacture buses and trucks in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad). The company will invest over Rs. 15,000 crore for the development of this greenfield plant.

The company’s upcoming EV plant will be developed over an area of about 636 acres and targets to produce 10,000 electric buses and 5,000 electric trucks every year.

Speaking to Business Standard earlier, a company official said, “Total investment in the EV project will exceed Rs 15,000 crore, and we are actively seeking a Chinese partner and an announcement is expected soon”.

Out of the total investment of Rs. 15,000 crore, JSW Greentech will take loan of Rs. 1,487.5 crore for this project and the remaining will be invested by the JSW Group.

Currently, JSW Group has an EV business in JV with China’s SAIC Motor. The group has since decided to launch its own EV brand. During a December 2024 interview with Financial Times, Mr. Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Steel had said, “Our idea is not to be an outpost of a Chinese company to sell products in India. We want to manufacture the products in India, value-add in India and sell in India”.

JSW Group’s Rs. 25,000 Cr. in Core Steel Segment & Energy Growth with Rs. 15K Cr Investment

As a part of the total investment of Rs. 60,000 crore, JSW Group will allocate Rs. 25,000 crore for its core steel business. However, the company did not specify any further details about this investment.

Apart from the investment in EV & Steel business, JSW Group will invest Rs. 15,000 crore to expand its energy business. However, there are no further details about this investment.

Additionally, JSW Neo Energy, a subsidiary of JSW Group, will complete Rs. 12,468 crore acquisition of O2 Power in FY26. This acquisition was announced in January 2025.
