IndianOil to Use 50% Green Hydrogen in its Refineries by 2030

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) will replace 50% of the Hydrogen used in its refineries with Green Hydrogen by 2030. This information was given by Mr. SSV Ramakumar, Director of Research & Development (R&D), IOCL, at the ETEnergy Leadership Summit held on 19th June 2023 to 20th June 2023.

According to Mr. Ramakumar, IOCL’s refineries are expected to consume about 7 lakh Tonnes Per Annum (TPA) Hydrogen by 2030, out of which, 3.5 lakh tonnes will be replaced by Green Hydrogen. He also added that Indian Oil is developing India’s first Green Hydrogen plant at its Panipat refinery. This upcoming plant will have a capacity of 7,000 TPA.
