HPL Electric & Power Launches ‘Neeram Pulse’, Smart Water Meter

HPL Electric & Power Ltd. (HPL), a major company in India’s electrical equipment sector, has launched ‘Neeram Pulse’, a smart water metering solution. As per the company, the newly launched smart meter will deliver accurate measurements whilst enabling smooth integration with Automated Meter Reading (AMR) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems.
The company’s Neeram Pulse, a smart water meter, targets to support smart city programs across India.
Neeram Pulse: Manufactured at HPL Electric’s New Gurugram Facility
The production of these HPL’s smart water meters will take place at HPL Electric’s manufacturing plant located in Gurugram. The plant has been equipped to manufacture both Ultrasonic Water Meters and Multi-jet Water Meters.
HPL Electric has positioned this facility as one of India’s integrated smart water meter manufacturing plants.
Speaking about the launch, Mr. Rishi Seth, Managing Director of HPL Electric & Power Ltd., said, “Neeram Pulse’ marks an important expansion for HPL into smart water metering, a segment we believe can develop into a meaningful growth vertical for the Company. With government initiatives and a growing policy focus on smarter water management, we see this as a long-duration opportunity”.
HPL’s Smart Water Meter’s Technical Specifications and Compliance Standards
The ‘Neeram Pulse’ smart water meter has been developed in accordance with IS:779:1994 and ISO 4064 standards, ensuring compliance with both national and international standards. The IS 779:1994 standard, by Bureau of Indian Standards, specifies technical requirements, performance, and construction standards for domestic cold-water meters. Whereas ISO 4064 provides a set of technical specifications and metrological requirements for the design, manufacture, testing, installation, and use of water meters.
HPL’s smart water meters have an IP68 rating, which means they are protected from dust and can stay in water for a long time. These meters use Long Range (LoRa) radio technology in the 865–868 MHz frequency band to communicate reliably. The batteries of these smart water meters can last up to 10 years.
Smart water meters have applications in municipal water distribution networks, industrial facilities, and agricultural irrigation systems.
