Hindustan Zinc is planning to reach its targeted production capacity through brownfield and greenfield expansions. Hindustan Zinc will expand capacity at its existing mines and will also set up a new smelter plant. According to Mr. Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, the company is targeting production capacity of 1.2 Million Metric Tonne (MMT) in 2025, followed by 1.35 MMT in 2026, and 1.8 MMT in 2027.

Hindustan Zinc Reports Decline in Mined Metal Production During Q3 FY-25

There was a recent fall in the company’s total mined metal production during Q3 of FY-25.

Hindustan Zinc reported its mined metal production for Q3 of FY-25 at 265 Kilo Tonnes (KT) which marks a 2% YoY decrease in the company’s mined metal production from Q3 of FY-24. This decline in mined metal production is attributed to reduced ore production at Hindustan Zinc’s Agucha and Sindesar Khurd mines in Rajasthan.

Hindustan Zinc’s refined or saleable metal production during Q3 FY-25 stood at 259 KT. The company reported that refined metal production remained flat YoY, but experienced a slight decline by 1% in Q3 of FY-25 from 262 KT in Q2 of FY-25. This decrease was due to a maintenance shutdown during third quarter of FY-25.

Interestingly, earlier in July 2024, the company introduced EcoZen, Asia’s first brand of Zinc with a low-carbon footprint.
