HAL-L&T Consortium Secures 860 Cr. Order from New Space India for 5 PSLV Rockets
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) – Larsen and Toubro (L&T) consortium has secured an order worth Rs. 860 crore from NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) to build five Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rockets from scratch. HAL and L&T own 52% and 48% of the consortium respectively.
As of now, the components of PSLV are procured from various industries by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The HAL – L&T consortium will be manufacturing these 5 launch vehicles on an end-to-end production basis. The consortium will therefore produce, assemble and integrate the PSLVs at ISRO’s existing facilities under the Government-Owned-Contracter-Operated (GOCO) model.
The first PSLV launcher manufactured by HAL – L&T consortium is expected to be delivered in the next two years.
