Thane-headquartered Ducon Infratechnologies Ltd. will be providing Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) solutions for the state-owned Suratgarh Thermal Power Plant in Rajasthan.

Ducon’s FGD Order for Suratgarh’s Supercritical Thermal Power Units 7 & 8

In a stock filing dated 25th May 2022, Ducon announced that it will be providing FGD solutions for supercritical units 7 and 8, each of capacity 660 MW, of the Suratgarh Thermal Power plant. Supercritical thermal power plants are more efficient than traditional thermal power plants, and they operate above the critical point of water. The estimated value of Ducon’s order is Rs. 150 to 200 crore.

Ducon will be providing its expertise in FGD technology while partnering with an Indian EPC company for this project. The name of the EPC company has not been disclosed. This is the second FGD order that the company has secured since January 2022, when it got an order for the Singareni thermal power plant in Telangana.

FGD refers to the process of reducing the content of sulphur oxides in flue gas, which is the term used for gases that are released into the atmosphere from industrial processes. FGD makes the generation of power from coal a cleaner process and is therefore considered a Clean Coal technology.
