Dr. V. Narayanan Assumes Charge as New Chief of ISRO

Dr. V. Narayanan has assumed the charge of new chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) starting 13th January 2025.

Dr. Narayanan is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur from where he received his M. Tech degree in Cryogenic Engineering in 1990 and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in 1999.

Dr. V Narayanan joined ISRO in 1984 and worked in various capacities before becoming Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) in January 2018. As Director of LPSC, Dr. V. Narayanan was responsible for providing techno-managerial leadership to LPSC, which is engaged in the development of Liquid, Semi-Cryogenic, and Cryogenic Propulsion Stages for Launch Vehicles. The centre also manufactures Chemical and Electric Propulsion Systems for Satellites, and Control Systems for Launch Vehicles.

Dr. Narayanan also went on to serve as Chairman of LPSC- ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) Coordination Committee, where he was responsible for reviewing and executing the activities related to assembly, integration, and testing of Liquid Propulsion systems. He also played a key role in the development of PSLV and LVM3 launch vehicles.

Before joining ISRO, Dr. V. Narayanan also worked at TI Diamond Chain Ltd, Madras Rubber Factory and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL).
