Diamond Power Begins Commercial Production on New MV Cable Line

Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd., an Indian manufacturer of conductors, power cables and towers, has started commercial production at a new Medium Voltage (MV) extrusion line at its cable manufacturing plant located in Vadodara, Gujarat. The company has invested Rs. 12 crore out of its internal accruals for this expansion. This new line is capable of producing 175 Km of MV cables per month (or 2,100 Km per year).
Monthly MV Cable Production Now at 800 Km per month
After the aforementioned addition, Diamond Power Infra. has 5 MV cable manufacturing lines capable of producing 800 Km of MV cables per month (or 9,600 Km per annum). Before the commissioning of this 5th MV cable line, the company’s manufacturing capacity was 7,500 Km per annum.
Diamond Power to Commission 4 more MV Cables line by September 2025
Apart from the commissioning of the aforementioned manufacturing line, Diamond Power is planning to commission four more MV cable manufacturing lines by September 2025. Post commissioning of these 4 manufacturing lines, the company will have a total of 9 MV cable manufacturing lines at its Vadodara plant.
Diamond Power will add another 550 Km per month of manufacturing capacity in its existing capacity of manufacturing 800 Kms of MV cables every month.
However, Diamond Power has not specified the investment required for the addition of these four MV cable lines.
Diamond Power Manufactures Single-Core & Multi-Core MV Cables
Diamond Power manufactures single-core MV cables and multi-core MV cables at its plant in Vadodara. These Medium Voltage power cables are designed to carry voltages between 1 KV and 36 KV. The company manufactures MV cables under different variants including 1 KV, 6 KV, 10 KV, 15 KV, 24 KV, and 36 KV, depending on customers’ requirements.
MV cables are primarily used in the power distribution grid for transmitting power from substations to transformers, and from transformers to industrial, commercial, or residential buildings. MV power cables are also used in solar power plants and wind projects for connecting turbines and panels to the electrical grid.
