BHEL Wins Rs. 11,800 Cr. Order for Thermal Power Project in Chhattisgarh

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won an order from Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) for developing a Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP) at Hasdeo Thermal Power station in Korba District of Chhattisgarh.
This thermal power plant will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 11,800 crore.

As per the newly secured order in Chhattisgarh, BHEL will be setting two units of 660 MW each at Hasdeo Thermal Power station.
Scope of work in this project for BHEL includes supplying of boiler, turbine, generator and its associated auxiliaries. The company will also be responsible for executing Control and Instrumentation (C&I) and commissioning works for the upcoming 1,320 MW (2 X 660 MW) thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh. Moreover, BHEL will also execute Balance of Plant (BoP) packages and civil works for these thermal power units.
The company is expected to start commercial operations at this plant within 60 months.
BHEL Reports Order Book of Rs. 1.80 Lakh crore
As of 31st December, 2024, BHEL reported a total order book value of Rs. 1,60,157 crore. Out of this, orders in the power segment contributed Rs. 1,21,413 crore, accounting for 76% of the total. The industry segment accounted for Rs. 35,063 crore. BHEL caters to various industries by supplying equipment for transportation, renewables, oil & gas, defense, aerospace, and energy storage. The company’s export orders amounted to Rs. 3,682 crore. Additionally, the company secured orders worth over Rs. 20,000 crore in the last three months of FY-25, bringing the total order book value to Rs. 1,80,000 crore.
Some of the recent order wins of the company include orders from Adani Power Ltd. and its subsidiary, Mahan Energen Ltd. (MEL), to build three supercritical thermal plants, securing Rs. 8,000 crore order from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd. (Mahagenco) and the company won an order from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (GSECL) for developing Unit-7 of Ukai Supercritical Thermal Power Plant, Gujarat, valued at approximately Rs. 7,500 crore.
